So it's my first blog in a very long time and it's taken 27 days of this year to get this one together, so what's the deal.....well getting my stuff together. Currently writing new songs I intend to post more 'rough' clips of me recording and writing my tunes.
.........we'll see how that goes.
Anyway the first one is up, check out the YouTube page for " Lucy"

So we've been working on an alternative style of performance, I'm not really an acoustic guitar player, electric is where it's at for me and that normally means power blues & Soul LOUD. not always appropriate especially for those intimate gigs.
So we've been working on performing our tunes in a different manner; chilled. So the electric guitars going no where, but the drumkits gone and in it's place is the trusty old acoustic act favourite the 'Cajon' although this time played in an appropriate fashion. oh yeah.
looking forward to it, it's sounding good, & coming soon to a venue near you.

Hey,
Just a few words to catch up.
Things haven't been too busy round here recently, But I've been suffering with a long term sore throat, since around christmas time, including losing my voice at the Christmas recording sessions.....hence the delay in new vids/recordings, I'm gonna have to overdub some vocal parts, not the point of a live band session but hey.
Theres a new video from last week @ The Bedford on the video page
Even performing a few bit parts in songs left me with a rough voice the next day.
Fingers crossed things are improving.
see you all soon

So what have we been getting up to over the festive period? between Christmas and the new year we booked ourselves into one of London's top vintage tracking rooms and recorded some of our staple originals and covers as a full live band, all filmed in glorious HD. So what can you expect? well in the coming weeks expect to see some new Videos, Photos, Downloads plus some new tunes!
Keep checking back and don't forget to sign up to the maling list, (There could be some freebie tracks heading your way).

Here's a post for all you guitar players, this is clip from 'Tomorrow' from our new record 'This Time Around' its the first recorded guitar tone I am truly happy with, It's a combination of my favourite guitar with my favourite Z amps.
So the setup sounds good....... I just need to capture it. In comes the mighty Royer R121 ribbon mic, this mic seems to be able to capture the way a guitar/amp sounds without having to resort to EQ/compression etc. Love it.
Guitars track setups:
Strat rhythm guitar: Strat spilt into two amps with a lehle dual: 1 into a Dr Z Carmen Ghia head/Dr Z 210 cab mic'd with a Royer R121 a little bit of a sennheiser 421 and a coles 4038 as a room mic. I also had my Dr Z Jaz head/Dr Z 112 (vintage 30) cab on just feeding the room mic.
335 rhythm gtr: 335 into the Ghia/112 (vintage 30) cab recorded with a coles 4038 a bit of the R121 mixed in and the 4038 room mic. This track features the Jaz's awesome Trem.
Lead Gtr: This track for me is my tone captured. My Strat into an xotic BB preamp pedal into the Ghia Head/210 cab mic'd with the Royer 121 with a bit of 421 and 4038 mixed in + the coles 4038 room mic. awesome.
No compression, small amount of mix eq. thats it pure DR Z amp tone.
have a listen, let us know what you think. and check out these amps.

Had an awesome session @ Miloco studios yesterday, completed guitar tracking for the next batch of tunes, Jem spent the day filming, Umil took very naturally to sitting in a producers chair and not doing much, and dave just couldn't stop smiling, could have something to do with the ampeg 8x10 bass tone and Luke 'Legend' Rao has definately found his calling sat behind a vintage Neve console. Stay posted for pics and videos of the session.
